Seal of approval
It is of great importance that cleft centres can be set up locally. Short-term placements from foreign doctors may well be of good intent but aren't enough since they cannot provide the ongoing after-care which is often needed sometimes over many years. All operations carried out in our cleft centres comply with international standards. The following is our seal of approval:
- Operations use only the very latest medical techniques
- Annual follow-up treatment, e.g. hearing checkups, speech therapy and psychotherapy
- Preliminary medical examinations, also in remote villages
- PR work to combat prejudice
- Special training for doctors and nurses
- All patient histories are meticulously documented providing info for future treatment
