Case study: Sowmya
The little Sowmya is one of a million boys and girls to be born with cleft lip and palate. She could barely eat, drink or speak. Sowmya was shunned, ridiculed. Thanks to contributions from donors, she could be operated on in our cleft centre in Hyderabad. Sowmya's destitute family would never have been able to afford such an operation themselves.
A small girl as happy as can be
When this little Indian girl looks into the mirror she is happy from the bottom of her heart. At last Sowmya can smile and looks just like everyone else. At last she has the chance to live a future without suffering and sorrow. Once the scars have finally healed, there will be barely anything left of her severe disfigurement. This is the magical power of a smile.
