Case study: Satia

As the result of a growth disturbance, Satia's skull was severely deformed. By 15 she was already blind in one eye. It was soon clear that, if something wasn't done quickly, it wouldn't be long before she lost her sight entirely. Satia was frequently made fun of and rejected by other people because of her deformed features and unfamiliar appearance. Many even thought she was “half-witted”, whereas in reality, behind the distorted facade, there was an intelligent young woman.

Satia today: the operation was such a success that, despite being so terribly deformed before, Satia is now well on her way to becoming a real beauty. With her new face, this Indian girl now has a chance of securing a job. She even helps us out at the Cleft Centre with little jobs on the computer. What a success story!
