Misbah returns from the hospital with her father in order to fetch a few things before surgery.
Her siblings wonder whether they will soon have a sister with a healed face.
Misbah has a one-sided cleft.
She is nervous and anxious because she does not know what to expect in the hospital.
Back home, she recovers for a while in the arms of her mother. The family does not own any furniture. They sleep on the floor and cook on a fireplace outside the house.
Fortunately, the hospital is not far away. This is an exception, for most of the Cleft-Children have to travel hundreds of kilometers before they reach a Cleft-Centre.
Misbah is fed a little snack before the final examination. Her mother must be very careful so that nothing runs into her nasal cavity.
The cleft lip and palate prevent a complete closure between the nasal cavity and the oral cavity which makes eating and drinking very difficult.
Misbah experiences her first postoperative day as if she were in a fog. Misbah sleeps, and her parents watch over her by turns.
It is the third postoperative day, and Misbah can leave the hospital. Her parents are overjoyed: finally, a life without stigma!
