It has been a few weeks since Professor Sailer's visit to India. But for Kamalamma, the 30-year-old woman from Hyderabad, this will forever remain an unforgettable time: she has a new face! The young woman had been disfigured and had given up hope for leading a normal life. Even the doctors in the Hyderabad Cleft-Centre refused to take responsibility for such a complicated intervention. Professor Sailer thus traveled to India in order to perform the complex surgery himself. The procedure took 18 hours: Kamalamma came through it just fine! Though follow-up procedures remain to be done, the young woman can hardly believe her good fortune.
